Berlin, 10. September 2026 – Limetax, a Berlin-based technology company and group of accounting and tax advisory firms with its own AI platform, has raised €36 million for its mission to bring the German tax profession into the AI era: €6 million in pre-seed equity led by Motive Partners with participation from Activant and Heliad, and a €30 million acquisition facility from a consortium of German banks. Angel investors include, among others, former Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner, former Rocket Internet board member and 468 Capital co-founder Alexander Kudlich, and the founders of fintech Moss. The capital funds the development of the agentic platform ATLAS and further partnerships with accounting and tax advisory firms.

Since launching in January 2026, four firms across seven locations with around 150 employees have joined the Limetax group; annualised revenue is in the double-digit millions.

Limetax is not another software tool sold into firms. It is a group that takes equity stakes in established practices and transforms them from within with its proprietary AI technology. The AI agents of the ATLAS platform take over routine work while the firms' professionals focus on advisory. For clients, this means real-time financials and proactive CFO-advice instead of rear-view-mirror bookkeeping. Through technology, Limetax addresses the structural problems of the profession while preserving the local roots of each firm.

Six hours instead of twenty

ATLAS, the agentic platform developed by Limetax, sits on top of DATEV, the system most German firms run on, and orchestrates specialised AI agents for bookkeeping, filings and payroll. Every agent output passes through a human judgement layer, where the firm's professionals review the results, apply their expertise and sign off. In the first bookkeeping engagements, ATLAS has reduced processing time from around twenty hours to six.

For the firms' employees, this means less data entry and more client work; for clients, it means faster financial statements and more of their advisors' time for the questions software cannot answer.

A team of experienced entrepreneurs, engineers and professionals from the industry

Limetax was founded by Christoph Gamon, Maximilian Meyer and Chris Dansard. Gamon was Co-Founder and CFO of Razor Group, which he scaled beyond $500 million in revenue; before that he worked in the executive office at Rocket Internet and in investment banking at UBS in London. Meyer was SVP Operations at Razor Group, leading more than 100 employees, and previously worked at Lazard and N26. Dansard was a founding engineer at the fintech unicorn Augustus (formerly Ivy). The Berlin team includes engineers and operators from Taxfix, Buena, Raisin, KPMG, McKinsey, Ernst & Young and ETL; the firms in the group continue to be led by their existing partners.

“We are not building another AI tool for firms. We are building the accounting and tax group of tomorrow, with an agentic platform that prepares large parts of the work while the experts in our firms focus on holistic advice for their clients. Together with the most modern firms in the country, we are rethinking bookkeeping and tax advisory for the Mittelstand”, said Christoph Gamon, Co-Founder & CEO of Limetax.

“Professional services is one of the last large industries AI has yet to reshape. The constraint in tax and accounting has never been demand. It has been capacity,” said Michael Hock, Partner at Motive Partners. “Limetax builds its technology where the work actually happens: inside the firms themselves. That is a fundamentally different approach from pushing software into a profession from the outside. Christoph, Maximilian and Chris know what it takes to build both technology companies and groups. Their technical know-how combined with deep expertise in the profession has the potential to take this industry into a new era.”

“Our profession is facing the biggest change I have seen in my career, and the opportunity in it is real. But very few practices have a realistic way of getting there on their own”, said Uwe Tille of bplus, one of the founding partner firms of the Limetax group. “Working with Limetax gave us technology in our practice that we could never have built ourselves. My team spends less time on data entry and more time with clients. That is the work we came into this profession to do.”
